hey!

i noticed that there were 13 levels, and 13 blocks that connected boxman to his house at the end, but you really didn't need 3 of them! so technically you should only had to beat 10 levels to get home ;[

very fun game, and was pretty challenging for such a seemingly simple concept
i had a lot of fun playing it

.......lmao

i don't know if i should laugh at the cleverness of this or laugh because people really do invest the time in doing this shit...

:)!

simply amazing, this has a nostalgic feel to it despite the fact it is not actually mario 64.. it also reminded me of yoshi's island cause of the sprites and levels

i will definitely be beating this through, but i did just notice a bug.. i was playing wet dry world, just exploring.. i had either 5 or 6 red coins and was trying to get the last two but died in the process before i got them.. when i respawned there was a sprite right next to me and when i touched it, it said that i cleared the 8 red coins for the level.. i know i didn't get all 8, so you might want to look into this

incredible game, you got da skillz

well done for a first game

but you present the tutorial as if we're all retarded 10 year olds.. instead of showing a ridiculously tedious tutorial, just introduce the new features on the first level that incorporates them. this way the game moves at a faster pace and keeps the attention of the player

the game moved at a way too slow of a pace for me to stay interested very long, but i did get to the tutorial level where a blue and yellow circle overlapped.. i noticed that instead of canceling each other out or becoming a green zone (blue + yellow = green :D), the yellow seemed to dominate the area.. you may want to look into that (and other overlapping colors)

it looks like you taught yourself a lot in making this game, so nice work

nice game

my only complaints are that u can't jump over enemies, which sometimes made me feel stuck

i think it would be an interesting idea to add a damage function that depends on how far away the enemy is, but it was still a fun game nonetheless

knarrenheinz responds:

Thanks for the review. It IS possible to jump over enemies :)
It's easy from a little distance but if an enemy is blocking you, try to jump first (without any other buttons pressed) and while IN the air press left/right.

You'll see that with a little training it's possible.

i wish

that this game was set up in "levels" rather than one endless conquest.. i was excited when i thought that was the concept of the game, and was disappointed when i realized it was not.. i figured maybe some upgrades and shiet, but no.. just some retro ladder action

this game is still quite fun to play, even though it wasn't designed the way i had my mind picturing it

nice work

you know

there is no basis whatsoever as to the objective.. i thought you were supposed to collide with them until i noticed that bar at the top turned red when it was low, then i realized that was my health

i'm giving you a 7 cause this is your first game released to the internet, which implies you are inexperienced.. but for future notice, you might wanna add a little premise as to what your goal is in the game, even if it's something as simple as this

lowered newground standards..

i don't normally insult games, but this was DEFINITELY not deserving of the front page

I would 'touch' a block if I jumped into the corner of one and grazed it, making it disappear
I couldn't jump off the "edge" of a block even though I was clearly still on it.
Sometimes the blocks are obstructed by the stuff at the top of the screen, making in an unnecessary inconvenience.

With these flaws aside, the game play was still deathly boring.. there is virtually no creativity in this game, as this is such a common concept in many games, except that they actually take it to another level..

And that song.. oh man that song.. that was probably the most painful part.. please, spare me the pain of listening to your terrible 12 year old music, thanks.

unoriginal and mediocre puzzles

this is a cliche click game with nothing really special to offer.. i accidentally hit the main menu button and it just instantly brought me there and forced me to start over.. when i stopped playing, whoever i was said "now i remember everything"... too bad the whole "story" is too ambiguous for anyone to understand wtf is going on.. it wasn't scary, the flashbacks were just irritating, and some of the puzzles were simply tedious and unnecessary.. the reason i gave a 5 is because you did do a good job at creating an eerie atmosphere, although the choice in "music" could have been better

amazing game

this game was so well put together.. the story was intriguing and the art was jaw-dropping, but i was very disappointed with how anticlimatic the ending was.. i won't ruin it for anyone, but i think it could have been more involved than that, and i had to a take a point off for it

regardless, it is a brilliantly constructed game
